ADOC has a separate limitation. Its public inmate search contains currently incarcerated inmates only and says historical data is not available online. That means a released state-prison inmate may disappear from the ADOC public search even though Alabama VNS, ABPP, court records, or a public-records request may still confirm the release history.
Register Dale County Release Alerts
Alabama VNS says prior registrants from another version of the Alabama Victim Notification System need to register again because the newer site was released in March 2024. That is a real local risk for Dale County notification work. A person may believe an old alert is still active when the current system needs a new profile or updated contact details.

Dale County VINELink Limits
VINELink and Alabama VNS are not a universal Dale County released-inmate search. They do not replace the county jail release record, the Dale County court disposition, ADOC sentence records, ABPP supervision records, BOP federal records, or ICE custody records. A notification can lag behind the source agency, and coverage depends on the type of custody.

BOP's locator covers federal inmates from 1982 to present, including released-after-1982 federal records. ICE's locator is for people currently in ICE custody or in CBP custody for more than 48 hours. U.S. Marshals custody is a transport and housing channel, not a public release list. If a Dale County jail release says federal hold, USMS, or ICE, the county release record may show only transfer out of Dale County custody. The next release date comes from the federal or immigration system.
